This is the last peice in the series that I did in Honors Art 3.
A lot of my other work from that time is tied into the series, but I don’t really consider them series pieces, as it’s mostly observational stuff.
Anyhoo, this was done on this really cool paper (?) called U-PO (?) paper. It’s really slick and doesn’t even feel like paper. It takes forever to dry, but when it dose it sort of keeps the swirlyness of wet watercolors.
I wish I’d known about it at the beginning of the semester…
I actually have sort of mixed feelings about this piece… There are some parts that I think are kind of ugly… I need to learn to stop dumping salt on everything…
But there are some parts I also really like. I might go back in to it some day.
This is another one that looks way better in person. There’s a lot of spindly watercolor stuff that doesn’t show up.
There are some things about this I don’t totally love, like the featherish/leaf things, but I do really like this one on the whole. It’s also the one where I really kind of figured things out.
I suppose I should note that I’m not uploading these in the order they were created… But in kind of a conceptual order.
They were all sort of finished at once anyways…
Doing two right now… Since there were some days I didn’t put anything up.
This was originally supposed to be a study… But I really liked it and so did my teacher, so it went into the final series. I remember having a lot of fun with the watercolor and getting that effect. But I don’t really remember exactly how I did do it…
I had kind of originally intended to do more on this… But people liked it the way it was, and I did too, so I left it.
It’s kind of about seeing something in your mind that is really beautiful, but being unable to draw it properly… Among other things.
Ouufff… This one is about 80 inches long… It’s a pain to carry around. But I do really like it. And it was a lot of fun to make. In the future I want to do more really long things.
So I’ve realized just how much I love dragonflies… I used a whole bunch in this series… It’s kind of a childhood thing, but I also think they are just really cool and fun to paint.
I like this one, but other people don’t seem to like it as much as I do… ^^;
I’m not sure if it’s really obvious in the photo (Which is crappy…) but the circle is cut out.
I’ve had pictures of the stuff that I did for honors art 3 sitting on my computer for a while. But instead of doing a huge dump like I did with all my stuff when I first got a tumblr, I’ll upload them one or two a day or something…
Sorry about the blurry photos… This one’s particularly bad, since there is a lot of detail in the pencil and watercolor that doesn’t show up.
I don’t know what to call this series. or this piece. It’s also a lot harder to explain with out sounding crazy then the last one… Maybe I’l put my artist statement up, since I was sort of coherent in that.
I’m just going to call it the “monster series”.
I’m not as fond of this one as I was… I really like parts of it, but other parts bug me… Like I wish I had painted the girl a little differently, and certain aspects of the composition bug me as well…
But I like my monsters.
